We are trying to create a sustainable, go-to tech orgnaisation for refugees. This means an organisation which can meet each individual refugee where they are at and provide the digital tools and training to help them build their own future, on their own terms. Sustainable means what you think it does - we want to secure our funding and that means having regular, reliable, generous donors who give monthly.
Digital inclusion is vital in the modern world. Research shows that having internet access improves health, happiness, and can uplift a household's income.
People seeking asylum are provided with little to get them through the day and are dispersed around the country away from existing support networks. The provision of a device can be a lifeline in these circumstances, providing a chance for connection and helping them get back on their feet when they are granted status.
Screen Share UK was founded to address this significant gap in support provision within the refugee support sector in the UK by providing laptops and digital devices for refugees and people seeking asylum from various backgrounds.
