VOLUNTEER
Volunteering underpins the work we do and how we do it. There are a variety of voluntary roles available at Screen Share, so regardless of experience or skill-level, if you’re passionate about our cause there’s a way you can contribute.
-
Digital Champions help refugees build the digital skills they need for everyday life. You can volunteer in a way that suits you: offer one-to-one support at our drop-in sessions in Islington on Wednesdays and Thursdays, take on a drop-in lead role to coordinate volunteers, become a facilitator to run group sessions, or join as a content developer creating simple, accessible learning materials. Anyone with basic digital skills and a desire to help can get involved.
-
Techies commit to taking a certain number of devices per month, fitting them with new hardware and downloading new software. They receive training and follow guidelines but take ownership of the devices and decisions relating to their refurbishment. They are central to the Screen Share model.
-
Finders plug their networks for device donations. This means posting on WhatsApp groups, sharing resources on LinkedIn and Facebook, mentioning it at book club and in the synagogue newsletter. They introduce Screen Share to their friends, especially when those friends happen to be CTOs.
-
Runners move devices through our system and deliver them to our clients. They join a group of trusted Runners who respond to the need for a pick-up or delivery on an ad-hoc basis. They are friendly, communicative and reliable.
-
Digital inclusion for refugees should not be niche. Join our Comms team to create engaging content and raise awareness about refugees and the digital divide. Get in touch with them through our social media channels and we can welcome you to the team.
COMPLETE A VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM TO SIGN UP:
We may not always have capacity to take on new volunteers, but we will store your information securely and in line with our privacy policy until we do.
Having completed the Volunteer Interest Form, you’ll need to read, consider, understand and sign the Volunteer Agreement (Code of Conduct). The Volunteer Agreement establishes what you are signing up to to when you join Screen Share, including and especially our Code of Conduct.
We will then seek a reference for you. You included details of your referee in the Volunteer Interest Form. You don't have to do anything for this - we will email your referee this form.
Once you have completed all the steps, email us to let us know.
